ABOUT
Zion is currently a senior and joined Miami Mock Trial during his sophomore year. He served as Co-Captain of the C team during his first year and went on to compete at the national tournament as an attorney for Miami’s B team that same year. His most common role is opening attorney.
At the 2019 National Championship Tournament, Zion competed for Miami B as the opening attorney for the Plaintiff. The following year, he competed for Miami B at the Indianapolis Regionals and Geneva ORCS as the opening attorney for the Defense, winning an outstanding attorney award at Regionals with perfect ranks.
Zion graduated from Pella Community High School in Pella, Iowa in 2017. While in high school, he competed in both speech and debate, winning an all-conference award in debate during his senior year.
At Miami, Zion studies Comparative Religions and International Studies. Besides mock trial, he is a member of the Prosecution Project, a research project that tracks and provides analysis of felony criminal cases involving illegal political violence occurring in the United States since 1990.
