Ben Sandlin

Class of 2016, Chemistry MAJOR
cincinnati, oh

Ben joined Miami Mock Trial his first year at Miami. During his first year, Ben’s team’s largest accomplishment was securing Miami’s second bid to ORCS with a first place Regional finish in 2013 and Ben’s first individual award. Ben competed his sophomore through senior years across the nation on Miami’s B-Team his sophomore year and A-Team his junior and senior years. Ben competed at the National Championship Tournament his sophomore through senior years returning to Oxford with 7th, 3rd, and 2nd places in the division for his sophomore, junior, and senior years, respectively. Ben has competed in both an attorney and a witness on the national stage—each time earning one rank from All-American status.

After graduating in 2016, Ben matriculated to the University of Cincinnati to pursue a law degree. Ben’s love for litigation was fostered by Miami Mock Trial and, without the organization, likely would never have continued to law school.

Ben is returning for the 2016 season as a coach for Miami Mock Trial’s first-year class along with Kate Bowling (Kate coached Ben at ORCS his freshman year) and John Spear (one of Ben’s co-counsel during his time with Miami Mock Trial). Ben is excited to start working with the new Mockhawks and teaching them to fight in the courtroom for Love & Honor.
